May 20, 2010

Our Clients, Associates & Friends,

There are no words to adequately describe the tremendous grief we as family are dealing with after the sudden and tragic death of a son and brother, Scotty Wayne Byrd. Scotty will be forever remembered as devoted husband, a loving father, a faithful son, a precious brother and a committed friend to many. Scotty was known for his willingness to serve others and freely gave of himself. Our family will be forever changed by the loss of Scotty. We ask that you keep our family in your prayers and thoughts as we navigate through the difficult days that await us. In his memory I would like to share a brief biography of my brother.

Scotty Byrd was born December 21, 1969 in Charlotte, NC, but spent most of his childhood growing up in Dunn, a town in eastern North Carolina before returning to Charlotte in 1998. Upon graduating from high school he enlisted in the US Army where he proudly served four years on active duty and two years in the army reserve until receiving an honorable discharge 1994.

Scotty joined The Byrd’s Group in 1999 where he utilized his leadership and organizational skills to establish a fleet maintenance program while he served as fleet manager. His success in this area attributed to his promotion to account manager in the landscape maintenance department. He was promoted to Vice President of Operations where he became an instrumental leader in our organization. He is married and the father of two children. Scott was pursuing a degree in Business Management.

We invite all to come and celebrate his life as we will be receiving family and friends on Friday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday at Northside Baptist Church with graveside services immediately following at Gethsemane Gardens
